Accutron marks its 60th anniversary with a Spaceview 2020 limited to just 60 individually numbered pieces, pairing serious collectibility with a case built entirely in 18 karat gold. It carries forward the Spaceview name's open-movement tradition while pushing the brand's proprietary electrostatic technology to its most refined execution yet, aimed squarely at collectors who want both rarity and mechanical novelty in one piece.
The round case measures 43. 5mm across and 15. 91mm thick, cast in solid 18K gold rather than gold-plated steel, and topped with a double-domed sapphire crystal for added depth and scratch resistance. Super-LumiNova markers keep the dial legible despite its intricate open construction, and the watch closes on a black leather strap that keeps the overall look formal rather than sporty.
Water resistance is rated to 50 meters, enough for incidental exposure but not intended for swimming or diving. Powering the watch is Accutron's electrostatic movement, a three-hand caliber that replaces a traditional mainspring or battery with an engineered system of electrostatic generators and a dedicated electrostatic motor.
That system both generates the movement's running power and drives the smooth, glide-like motion of the second hand, a signature trait of Accutron's electrostatic engineering rather than the ticking motion typical of standard quartz movements.
