This issue reveals lesser-known chapters such as Chinese immigration during the Gold Rush, offering a broader perspective on the cultural foundations behind these garments.
At its core, the magazine dives into iconic pieces and their history, including the discovery of rare Levi’s jeans from 1880 found in a California mine. It also decodes key collector details – from chinstraps to vent holes – providing insight into the subtle elements that define authentic vintage workwear.
Featuring in-depth interviews with renowned figures such as Levi’s historian Lynn Downey, Rin Tanaka, Larry McKaughan, Akira Tsuchida, and Michael Harris, this issue blends expert knowledge with storytelling. Completed with an exclusive cover artwork, Three Horse Power by Greg Newbold, Avant Magazine delivers a refined mix of history, rarity, and collector culture for dedicated enthusiasts.
