Buy NowThe Cap of Courage is standard issue at Best Made. For this limited edition, we've chosen an undyed Shetland wool, spun in Aberdeenshire using methods unchanged since the Industrial Revolution. This edition represents the most durable and weather-resistant wool cap we've ever made.
These genuine black and natural-white wools come from Shetland sheep whose fleece produces a permanent, deep color that dyeing can't match. Undyed, the wool preserves its natural softness and develops rich tonal variations through gradual, even fading over time. The Shetland fiber brings distinct advantages: warmer than our lambswool edition, naturally water-resistant, and built to withstand decades of hard use.
This is what we call 'working wool' – wool intentionally bred for resilience, warmth, and longevity over luxury-level softness. Seamlessly knit in Texas and finished with our signature Best Made X-stitch on a grosgrain ribbon. The undyed wool arrives in its natural state: coarser than lambswool, with subtle variations in tone.
