BIG JOHN R008 15.5oz Rare Straight Fit Jeans

About this product

The Big John R008 15.5oz Rare Straight Fit Jeans represent the pinnacle of Japanese denim craftsmanship. As Big John's flagship model, the 'RARE' series is produced under the meticulous supervision of Sakamoto Kiyoshi, widely regarded as the pioneer of vintage denim. Sakamoto's lifelong dedication to the study of the 'ultimate blue' results in an indigo of exceptional purity – and a fade that no synthetic process can replicate.

The fabric is a 15.5oz selvedge denim woven from Big John's original 'BJ-1' cotton yarn, with a brown selvedge ID and an 8mm narrow seam designed to develop beautiful, distinctive wear patterns over time. Dyed using pure indigo rather than synthetic substitutes, the denim achieves an unparalleled depth of color and fade – a true testament to Sakamoto's mastery of the indigo craft.

Every stitch is constructed using the single-stitch technique – a labor-intensive process that requires more than twice the effort of standard sewing methods. This commitment to traditional craftsmanship not only enhances the jeans' authentic vintage character, but also produces a notably robust, long-lasting structure.

The silhouette is a straight fit with a balanced mid-rise – sharp enough to feel refined, relaxed enough to wear daily – versatile enough to transition effortlessly from casual to more polished settings.

Construction details reflect Big John's 'Quality First' philosophy. The jeans feature vintage-style iron tack buttons that develop a unique patina over time, sturdy thick pocket fabric with dual stamps marking the premium RARE collection and Sakamoto Denim's authenticity, and rivets and buttons reinforced with leather rings to prevent detachment and reduce fabric strain at stress points.

Fit Notes: This model fits true to size for Big John, meaning the tagged size closely matches the actual waist measurement, or may even run slightly larger. Compared to most global American brands, sizing is similar, so you can take your usual size. As always, we…
