Buy NowThe 'Wrong Way' Corrigan Flight Jacket On August 5, 1938, famed aviator, aircraft mechanic, and aviation maverick Douglas 'Wrong Way' Corrigan took to the skies from Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn on what was supposed to be a flight to California. Instead, 27 hours later, he landed at Baldonnel Aerodrome in County Dublin, Ireland.
With little more than his aircraft, two chocolate bars, and a couple of boxes of fig bars for provisions, Corrigan had crossed the Atlantic in a single-engine aircraft, without authorization. The unexpected flight earned him a place in aviation history and an enduring American nickname: 'Wrong Way' Corrigan.
Inspired by the distinctive leather flight jacket Corrigan wore on his legendary transatlantic flight, our Wrong Way Corrigan Flight Jacket captures the character of aviation’s pioneering era. Crafted from smooth vintage lambskin, the 'Wrong Way' Corrigan jacket offers lightweight comfort and freedom of movement, making it ideal for three-season wear.
A classic snap-down collar and waist-length silhouette reflect the practical designs worn by pilots of the period, while the shorter cut was designed for comfort inside the confines of a cramped cockpit. This jacket features two flap pockets inspired by U. S. Navy flight jackets of the era, complemented by convenient side-entry pockets and an interior snap-closure pocket.
Adjustable waist tabs allow for a comfortable, personalized fit. Inside, a silky polyester lining takes subtle inspiration from the colors and patterns found in pre-WWII parachute materials. Jackets of the period were sometimes finished with silk linings; our interpretation pays tribute to that detail while offering the durability and ease of modern construction.
A tribute to one of aviation history’s most improbable flights, the 'Wrong Way' Corrigan Flight Jacket brings the spirit of 1930s flight to a timeless, wearable style. Available in numbered sizes 34–52.
