Buy NowWith open cockpit fighters in mind, this sheepskin flight jacket was originally designed for the Royal Air Force (R. A. F) in 1937 with very thick shearling. Proving too cumbersome for the tight enclosed cockpit of the Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft, these pilots tailored their flight jackets to shear down the wool to allow more freedom of movement.
Cockpit USA has introduced this short sheared sheepskin version, light enough to wear with a sweater or other layering pieces. Please note that the shearling is tanned to 'antique' as you wear it, giving 'highs and lows' in the color so it looks as if you had this jacket since WWII.
This will not affect the durability of this product. Order the RAF sheepskin flight jacket today! Sheepskin varies from production to production but you'll always receive the same quality and warmth from Cockpit USA. Not sure which size to get?
