Cushman draws heavy inspiration from classic American sportswear of the 1930s to 1960s, faithfully recreating iconic pieces from the era with the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that Japanese makers are renowned for. This offering from Cushman is based on vintage US Army issue sleep shirts.
These were a loose-fitting, long-sleeved cotton pullover shirt in olive drab, worn by soldiers for sleeping. It featured a simple collar or band neck, a short buttoned placket at the chest, and extended length for comfort. Designed for practicality and issued by the Quartermaster Corps during WWII.
Inspired by 1940s U. S. Army sleepwear, Cushman elevate the original spec with a soft linen-cotton blend, expertly crafted in Japan. It features a band collar, two-button front placket, single chest pocket, and slightly shortened sleeves for a relaxed, casual fit ideal for everyday wear.
