Buy NowThe Deluxeware 7501 Northerner Shirt Grey Ivory reinterprets early 1940s Western denim shirts through the lens of premium Japanese fabric development. While the silhouette references some of the earliest Western shirt patterns – defined by straight seam lines running from the armholes toward the chest and a beautifully curved S-shaped hem – the fabric choice elevates the garment far beyond its workwear roots.
Instead of denim, Deluxeware uses a high-density cotton satin moleskin, woven in Ibara, Okayama Prefecture – one of Japan's most respected weaving regions. Constructed with 9-count warp yarns and 12-count weft yarns, and woven at over 100 threads per inch, the fabric achieves a unique balance of density, durability, and elegance. The result is a surface with soft luster, firm structure, and smooth handfeel that feels substantial yet refined.
This cotton satin moleskin offers the visual presence of classic Western shirting while providing exceptional comfort and long-term wearability. Over time, the fabric softens and develops subtle character without losing its clean appearance – making it ideal for both casual and elevated styling.
Construction is handled with Deluxeware's uncompromising standards. The shirt is sewn in Odate, Akita Prefecture, using 1960s Union Special double-needle machines – ensuring strength, clean seam lines, and vintage-correct durability throughout. Every detail reflects Deluxeware's philosophy of building garments that prioritize fabric integrity, functional design, and longevity over trends.
Fit Notes: This shirt runs small. Deluxeware tends to run smaller than standard American sizing, so we recommend sizing up one from your usual size for a comfortable fit. Deluxeware also offers USM and USL sizes, which are larger than XL and feature a more regular, less tailored cut. As a reference, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting shirt to ensure the right fit.
