This unique piece is named after Captain John August Bergstrom, who was stationed in the Philippines during WWII. Captain Bergstrom was the first Austinite casualty of the war when the base he was stationed succumbed to a surprise bombing. His legacy lives on in part by Austin's international airport bearing his name.
Indulge in luxury with the sophisticated Bergstrom, version MkIV. Impeccably re-issued with new features, embodying elegance and style. Back after incredible demand, the iconic Horizon dial captures the imagination and adventurous spirit of those that took to the air in the early 20th century. Complimented with highly decorated Swiss manual wind movement, stunning dial finishes, mesh polished bracelet, and a limited-edition polished PVD case option, this timeless classic is available for the exclusivity of the few. Each piece will be numbered and only 300 units produced in this batch! ONLY 50 BLACK PVD VERSIONS.
I launched the brand in 2016 with the original Bergstrom model, and over the years not only has this model been popular, but it has seen some small tweaks and enhancements over the years. The MkIV now includes a date function including an elegantly framed date window, while still maintaining the original hand-wound mechanical movement. Although the MkIV uses the Sellita SW261, instead of the ETA 6498, the art of daily interaction with superb hand winding is still a fundamental piece of ownership.
IMPORTANT: Even though the Swiss made SW261-M does have some technologies built in to prevent overwinding, this is a manual wind movement, so make sure to stop winding once you feel some tension (I recommend only 15-20 winds per day). Once you begin to feel some resistance, stop winding. You will still need to screw the crown back in and that can add a couple rotations of the crown.
