Buy NowCut from vegetable tanned Shonan cowhide, tanned in Himeji, a region that has shaped hide into leather for well over a thousand years and now produces the majority of Japan's finest cowhide. The craft runs deep here, carried in the water of the region's rivers and in hands that have refined the process for generations.
Each coaster is edge finished with a hand skived bevel and hand burnished to a smooth, closed finish that resists moisture at the rim. Left undyed, the leather is free to move with use, darkening and marking gradually into a deep, personal patina that only becomes richer with age. Sold as a two pack, made to hold up to daily use for years to come.
