The Rugged Twill Large Backpack embodies the philosophy that has guided Filson for 125 years: making uncompromising products using the best available materials and construction – products that withstand daily use for years, to be passed on, not thrown away. One of the first bags Filson introduced over 30 years ago, this traditional backpack remains proof that when something is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
Instead of waxed canvas, Rugged Twill was chosen for its exceptional abrasion resistance. This industrial-grade fabric comes from England's oldest and most traditional mills, lightly waxed to keep valuables dry and protected. Premium Italian cattle hide leather shoulder straps and reinforcements are strong enough for equestrian gear, slowly vegetable-tanned over several weeks to become supple and lustrous while conforming to your body over decades.
Even hidden details receive care – such as the premium Italian leather grab handle and Tin Cloth binding on interior seams to prevent fraying and wear.
