Ships Within One (1) Week G-SHOCK is best known for being the 'tough' watch: rugged, dependable, and made to withstand any fall the wearer might experience. However, acquiring this title was no simple task for Kikuo Ibe and Project Team Tough. The goal was to create a watch that could operate up to 10 years, be water-resistant down to 10 bars, and run after a 10-meter fall.
After two years and over two hundred prototypes, the G-SHOCK was born: modern G-SHOCK all derive a bit of their DNA from the original DW-5000C of 1983. Now, the G-SHOCK market is tougher than ever. The G-SHOCK GMWB5000 continues the Metal Series line with its bold reimagining of the original square G-design.
As you’d expect, the Metal Series features a full metal case with a matching metal bracelet and push-button deployment clasp. Shedding its traditionally resin outer layer does not make this G-SHOCK any less shock resistant. The GMWB5000 also has a 200M water resistance rating, similar to its resin counterparts.
Covering the backlit LCD display is mineral glass. Plenty of tech has made its way into the GMWB5000, including a Multi Band 6 radio control to ensure precise timekeeping and Bluetooth for connectivity to your smart device. Though it’s not immediately apparent, this is also amongst G-SHOCK’s 'Tough Solar' powered watches.
On a full charge it’s rated to last 10 months, and 22 months when stored in a dark location with the power save function on. Other features include world time, alarm functionality, hourly time signal, stopwatch, and a countdown timer. If you were looking for a tough watch, they don’t come tougher than G-SHOCK.
