JAPAN BLUE J214 14oz US Cotton Circle Tapered Black Jeans

About this product

The Japan Blue J214 Circle Tapered Black Jeans strike a refined balance between comfort and a sharp, modern silhouette. Crafted in Kojima, Japan, this model is part of Japan Blue’s innovative Circle Jeans series, designed to combine traditional selvedge denim with advanced pattern engineering for superior everyday wear.

The fabric is a newly developed 14oz Japanese selvedge denim, woven from 100% American cotton selected for durability and strength. Both the warp and weft yarns are sulfur-dyed black, producing a deep, saturated black tone with subtle depth rather than a flat appearance. Woven on vintage shuttle looms at higher tension, the denim has a compact, resilient feel that maintains a clean surface while aging gracefully over time.

A defining feature of the Circle series is Japan Blue’s curved Circle waistband, engineered to follow the natural shape of the waist. This construction reduces gaping at the back and significantly improves comfort – especially in tapered cuts – allowing the jeans to sit naturally and securely on the body.

The J214 cut features a mid rise with a relaxed top block that provides comfortable room through the thighs without feeling bulky. From the knee down, the leg tapers aggressively toward a narrow hem, creating a clean, contemporary profile while preserving comfort where it matters most. The denim is sanforized and one-washed, ensuring immediate wearability with no shrinkage.

Finishing details reflect Japan Blue’s restrained, functional approach: a black vegetable-tanned leather patch, custom engraved doughnut top button, gold metal zip fly, reinforced bar tacks, and durable cotton pocket bags. A peek-a-boo selvedge coin pocket and classic red selvedge ID complete the design, grounding the jeans firmly in Japanese denim tradition.

Fit Notes: These jeans have a standard sizing. We recommend choosing your usual size. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect size. The fabric is sanforized,…
