JAPAN BLUE J314 14oz US Cotton Circle Straight Black Jeans

About this product

The Japan Blue J314 Circle Straight Black Jeans represent a modern evolution of classic black selvedge denim, combining refined fit engineering with the brand’s deep-rooted expertise in traditional Japanese denim production. Crafted in Kojima, Japan, these jeans are part of Japan Blue’s innovative Circle Jeans series, developed to deliver superior comfort without compromising structure or durability.

The fabric is a newly developed 14oz Japanese selvedge denim, woven from 100% American cotton using strong, resilient yarns chosen for long-term wear. Both the warp and weft are sulfur-dyed black, creating a deep, uniform tone with subtle depth rather than a flat, lifeless black. Woven on vintage shuttle looms at higher tension, the denim has a robust, compact feel that maintains a clean surface while still aging with character over time.

Japan Blue’s Circle waistband is the defining feature of this series. Designed with a subtle curve, it naturally follows the shape of the waist, reducing gaping at the back and improving overall comfort – especially during extended wear. The result is a jean that feels noticeably more ergonomic while maintaining a sharp, traditional appearance.

The J314 cut is a regular straight fit with a mid rise, offering a timeless silhouette that works effortlessly with boots, sneakers, or dress shoes. It provides balanced room through the thigh with a straight leg that remains clean and versatile. The fabric is sanforized and one-washed, ensuring immediate comfort with no shrinkage to worry about.

Finishing details reflect Japan Blue’s understated but precise approach: a black vegetable-tanned leather patch, a custom engraved doughnut top button, a gold metal zip fly, reinforced bar tacks, and durable pocket bags made from thick cotton cloth. A peek-a-boo selvedge coin pocket and red selvedge ID complete the package, grounding the jeans firmly in heritage denim tradition.
