JAPAN BLUE J414 14oz US Cotton Circle Classic Straight Black Jeans

About this product

The Japan Blue J414 Circle Classic Straight Black Jeans offer a more traditional, roomier interpretation of Japan Blue’s modern black selvedge denim, combining timeless proportions with the brand’s advanced fit engineering. Crafted in Kojima, Japan, this model belongs to the innovative Circle Jeans series, designed to enhance comfort while preserving the integrity of classic denim silhouettes.

The fabric is a newly developed 14oz Japanese selvedge denim, woven from 100% American cotton selected for strength and longevity. Both the warp and weft yarns are sulfur-dyed black, resulting in a deep, rich black tone with subtle depth rather than a flat finish. Woven on vintage shuttle looms at higher tension, the denim has a compact, durable feel that wears in cleanly while developing character over time.

As with all Circle series jeans, the defining feature is Japan Blue’s curved Circle waistband, engineered to follow the natural shape of the waist. This construction minimizes gaping at the back and provides a noticeably more ergonomic fit, especially appreciated in higher-rise, straight-leg cuts.

The J414 cut is a classic straight silhouette with a high rise and slightly wide leg opening. It offers generous room through the thigh and a straight fall from knee to hem, creating a balanced, vintage-inspired profile that pairs effortlessly with boots or heavier footwear. The fabric is sanforized and one-washed, ensuring immediate comfort with no shrinkage.

Finishing details remain true to Japan Blue’s refined approach: a black vegetable-tanned leather patch, custom engraved doughnut top button, gold metal zip fly, reinforced bar tacks, and durable cotton pocket bags. A peek-a-boo selvedge coin pocket and classic red selvedge ID complete the design, grounding the jeans firmly in Japanese denim tradition.
