Buy NowThe Wabash Engineer boot is based off careful examination of several pairs of vintage engineer boots from John Lofgren's personal collection. Carefully refined over many iterations, these boots epitomize the brand's definition of the 'Made in Japan' standard: painstaking attention to detail coupled with master craftsmanship. The result is a top-of-the-line engineer boots with the finest construction, stitching, and materials.
This version of the Wabash is built from deerskin from Hokkaido's Ezo Shika deer, a wild deer traditionally hunted by the Ainu people for food and leather. To make boots from Ezo Shika deerskin, two layers must be used. The liner being an oiled tanned leather, and the outer shell being a waxed finished tanning that's burnished. The Ezo Shika live a rugged life in the woods and mountains, and the leather is not corrected at all, leaving an appealing natural grain with a lot of character.
