Buy NowThe Kobashi Studio Karabiner 8 is a refined reinterpretation of the carabiner clasps traditionally used by rock climbers and sailors. Crafted by a second-generation metal craftsman family in Tokyo, this piece is made of sand-cast solid brass in a warm gold tone – equally at home as a belt loop accessory or a finishing touch on a backpack, key ring, or bag.
The sand-casting process gives each piece subtle surface variation and weight, the kind of organic, hand-shaped character that machine production cannot replicate. Over time, the brass develops a rich patina that reflects daily use – turning a functional object into a quiet, personal accessory.
Kobashi Studio is a small Tokyo-based atelier specializing in solid brass accessories of the highest quality and detailing found today. Its founder, Junichi Kobashi, draws upon completely handcrafted production using vintage machinery and manual processes to create some of the most beautiful brass pieces in production today.
