This colorblock tote piece features a charming illustration by freelance artist Erika of Kimagureya, known for her playful designs and expertise in traditional dyeing methods like katazome.
This design was commissioned for the 2025 zodiac year: the year of the snake. In Japan, it's considered lucky to pay extra deference to the current zodiac animal, whether by visiting specific shrines or buying themed decorations and charms. The snake zodiac often represents wealth, whether material or spiritual, as well as change and development. Keeping the snake close may bring you luck in these areas, even beyond the year of the snake.
People born in the year of the snake (1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025) may find snake charms especially lucky.
With an inside pocket and large enough to carry every day or for travel, this design is perfect for anyone born in the year of the snake, or for anyone celebrating a milestone this year.
