LOOP & WEFT Super Fluffy Knit Raglan V-Gusset Crewneck Sweatshirt Vintage Forest Green

About this product

The Loop & Weft Super Fluffy Knit Raglan V-Gusset Crewneck revives a rare chapter of Japanese sweatshirt craftsmanship, preserving the distinctive texture and warmth of vintage athletic wear while refining it for modern everyday use. Developed in Wakayama, Japan, using specialized 1970s sinker knitting machines, this sweatshirt carries forward the legacy of discontinued Tompkins-style knits, painstakingly reproduced by artisans with decades of experience working on old machinery.

The fabric is exceptionally plump, warm, and soft, featuring a unique loop structure that can only be achieved on sinker knitting machines. Unlike standard fleece, the interior is carefully brushed and stabilized to maintain its shape over time, resisting sagging or deformation even after repeated wear and washing. As it ages, the fabric develops a subtle, lived-in character that enhances its vintage appeal without compromising comfort.

Inspired by 1960s raglan sweatshirts, the design balances freedom of movement with thoughtful structure. Straight raglan sleeves allow for natural shoulder mobility, while the V-gusset subtly shapes the body and improves layering. Construction details are executed to an exacting standard: a three-needle single-straddle binder neck, four-needle flat seams that sit smoothly against the skin, and thick, resilient ribbing designed to hold its shape long term. Subtle thread color variations between panels add depth and reinforce the garment’s handcrafted nature.

The fit is a well-judged regular silhouette – comfortable through the body without excess bulk – making it equally suited as a standalone sweatshirt or as a mid-layer. Like all Loop & Weft pieces, it reflects a deep respect for textile heritage, combining rare machinery, traditional sewing techniques, and uncompromising attention to detail to create a sweatshirt built for years of wear.
