Merz b. Schwanen's 1950's t-shirt features a lighter fabric and a classic 50's fit relative to their 215 t-shirt. The unique fabric this tee is woven from was traditionally manufactured on original loopwheelers in Germany, requiring artisan craftsmanship, patience, and lots of experience. This is one of Merz's lighter weight loopwheeled jerseys, weighing in at 4.6 oz relative to the 7.2 oz fabric used for Merz's 215 tee. This fabric is also a 1-thread fabric (whereas the 7.2 oz jersey is 2-thread), meaning that it is less opaque, and showcases more organic texture.

Merz B. Shwanen's unique cotton jersey fabrics are woven on loopwheelers, very rare vintage circular knitting machines that are nearly 100 years old. These machines knit fabrics at zero-tension, which grants the fabrics a great deal of softness, thickness, comfort, and give. Simply put, loopwheeled cottons tend feel better and hold up better relative to fabrics woven on more modern machines, and amongst loopwheeled tees, Merz offers some of the very best.
