milo and dexter Hand Knit Wool Fisherman Sweater Navy

About this product

Canadian knitwear has a long, rich history that is inherently woven into the fabric of our nation and our geography. With a climate that varies drastically throughout the year and becomes quite harsh at times, robust, hard-wearing wool knitwear is not just a staple, but an essential. Milo & Dexter's knitwear embodies this, combining classic Canadian knitting techniques with high-quality British wool. This is a traditional and very functional wool garment that is made with the same knitting methods, natural materials, and patterns that have remained unchanged since the 19th Century.

The Fisherman Sweater originated in the 19th century, on the Aran Isles of Ireland, and was created as a piece of functional workwear to supply the majority of the workforce on the islands. It has persisted as prominent staple of high-quality knitwear to this day, and sees tons of wear on chilly days around the globe. Hand-knit in Canada with 100% premium British wool, these Fisherman Sweaters are intended to be functional, robust, and warm, just as they should be. They feature a classic, loose cut for comfort, raglan sleeves, and a thick, consistent hand-knit cabled body; finished with ribbed cuffs and hem, and a thick ribbed mockneck.
