The ONI Denim 222 represents a breakthrough with the brand's 'Kiraku' series, featuring a 12oz lightweight denim that challenges typical lightweight construction. Despite its reduced weight, this fabric maintains ONI's signature strong, rough texture and characteristic unevenness that defines the brand's premium Japanese denim.
Unlike most lightweight denim – often made with fine-count yarns that lack substance and character – the Kiraku series achieves rich texture and depth through ONI's specialized weaving techniques. The result is a fabric that feels surprisingly light and comfortable on the body without sacrificing the brand's distinctive fabric quality. Drawing on years of experience in premium denim crafting, Oishi-san successfully reduced the weight while preserving the fabric's integrity – a genuinely refined feat of Japanese denim engineering.
The silhouette is a wide straight fit – the widest cut in ONI's lineup – featuring a relaxed rise and waist that flow in a clean line to the hem with no taper. This contemporary profile embraces oversized styling while maintaining classic proportions, making it a versatile fit for boots, sneakers, and sandals alike.
Construction details continue ONI's quiet obsession with refinement. The jeans feature original donut buttons, original punched rivets, and a cow leather patch – all crafted in Japan with meticulous attention to quality. The one-wash finish ensures no further shrinkage.
Fit Notes: This model fits true to size for ONI – the tagged size closely matches the actual waist measurement. Compared to most global American brands, sizing is similar or slightly smaller, so you may take the same size or one size up. The denim is unsanforized but has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. With regular wear, the waistband will stretch approximately 1 inch, allowing the fit to settle comfortably over time. We don't recommend sizing down, as starting too tight may cause discomfort and alter the intended…
