One of ONI's most recent fabric developments applied to the widest cut in the brand's lineup – the 222 Super Wide Straight Jeans introduce Oishi-san's original 'Long Slub' denim in a decidedly contemporary silhouette.
The fabric features an indigo warp with a natural weft, giving it a rugged, textured look defined by its distinctive elongated slub character. Despite the substantial 13.5oz weight, the cloth feels surprisingly light and comfortable to wear from the very first day. The slub yarns are what set this fabric apart – exceptionally irregular in thickness and structure, they create an elongated, highly expressive surface texture that will evolve dramatically over time, revealing a beautifully contrasted patina as the indigo fades against the retained natural weft. Few fabrics in the ONI lineup age with quite this level of drama.
The silhouette is a wide straight fit – the widest cut in ONI's lineup – featuring a relaxed rise and waist that flow in a clean line to the hem with no taper. This contemporary profile embraces oversized styling while maintaining classic proportions, delivering a versatile fit that pairs equally well with boots, sneakers, or sandals.
Premium details reflect the brand's obsession with quality throughout. The jeans feature ONI's original donut buttons, punched rivets reinforcing stress points, a leather patch, and the distinctive selvedge ID visible when the cuffs are rolled.
Fit Notes: This model runs slightly small – smaller than most other ONI jeans in the lineup. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend sizing up one from your usual size for the intended fit. The denim is unsanforized but has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. With regular wear, the waistband will stretch approximately 1 inch, allowing the fit to settle comfortably over time. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting pair to find the perfect size.
