PURE BLUE JAPAN 5409-IDBK Yarn Dyed Sweatshirt Indigo Black

About this product

The Pure Blue Japan 5409-IDBK Yarn Dyed Sweatshirt is a premium casual staple that combines heritage-inspired design with distinctive fabric craftsmanship. Made in Japan, it exemplifies PBJ’s commitment to creating garments that are both functional and visually striking.

The yarns are first yarn-dyed in indigo and then overdyed in sulfur black, producing a subtle heathered texture across the fabric that gives the surface depth, character, and tonal complexity. Soft yet durable, the cotton is built to age gracefully – gradually revealing the underlying indigo as the black softens with wear, developing a unique patina that grows more dimensional over time.

The fabric is knit slowly on circular machines without tension, producing an exceptionally soft, full hand feel and a relaxed, comfortable wear that improves with age. The interior has a subtle terry-like texture that adds warmth and softness against the skin.

Construction features raglan sleeves with gusseted underarms for extra mobility, paired with drop-needle ribbing at the collar, cuffs, side seams, and hem – yarn-dyed in the same indigo as the body, ensuring the rib panels themselves also develop fade and character alongside the rest of the garment. A Shoai leaf embroidery at the side seam serves as the brand's quiet signature.

Fit Notes: This sweatshirt runs small. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend sizing up one from your usual size for a comfortable fit. As a reference, a size 4 (L) fits similarly to a standard American Medium. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting sweatshirt to ensure the right fit.
