Our third collaboration with Simmons Bilt incorporates a beautiful (and hardy) roughout leather that makes an already rugged jacket just a bit more rugged. It offers a softer, suppler hand than our existing horsehide models, meaning that it starts out less stiff for an easier break-in process. That said, the roughout is still plenty robust, with a substantial weight and that tough, durable nature that roughout is known for. Just like a pair of classic workboots, the roughout will camoflauge any scuffs or scrapes that would otherwise stand out on a smoother, shinier leather.

As one of the earliest pioneers in the leather jacket market since the early 1900s, this is a brand with some serious heritage history. Although the original Simmons Bilt operation ceased trading in the 1930s, extensive research has been done by the current team to reinvigorate the brand by reproducing and reimagining vintage leather outerwear with craftsmanship and quality that is sure to live up to the origins of the name. Each Simmons Bilt jacket is built entirely by one person from start to finish in their factory in Scotland, with some of the world's finest leathers.

The Tail Gunner is a super classic design featuring a slightly boxy body with a somewhat shorter length, as per the original military inspiration implied by the name, giving it enough room to layer well with in the fall and winter. It has a standard collar and a zip front with a size 8 Universal zipper, zip cuffs, gusseted shoulders and belted waist adjusters, and is fully lined throughout the body and pockets with a black cotton twill. Finished with handwarmer pockets, a single zip-closure exterior chest pocket, an interior snap closure gun pocket, and all antique brass hardware.
