The Padilla Miami Maduro traces back to 2012, when Ernesto Padilla developed the blend in Miami during the period when the Padilla brand was closely associated with small-batch, Miami-made cigars. According to Padilla, the original version was crafted at El Titan de Bronze, the well-known Little Havana factory that has produced cigars for a number of boutique brands.
The Miami Maduro was conceived as a richer counterpart to the broader Padilla Miami family, emphasizing the deep sweetness and intensity of Maduro tobacco while retaining the Cuban-influenced character that has long shaped Ernesto Padilla's blends. The blend has since gone through different iterations.
Padilla says the concept was later taken to Nicaragua and refined, while retaining a premium Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper and aged Nicaraguan fillers. Current versions use filler tobaccos aged roughly five years, and Padilla positions the cigar as a bold but balanced Maduro rather than simply a high-strength blend.
