Buy NowThe Studio D’Artisan 5728 Indigo Sashiko Dobby Shirt is a refined expression of traditional Japanese textile craftsmanship reinterpreted for everyday wear. Woven from 14oz 100% cotton indigo-dyed dobby sashiko fabric, this shirt stands out for its rich texture, deep color, and the unmistakable character that only heavyweight Japanese fabrics can deliver.
The sashiko sections are woven using thick yarns, intentionally engineered to react differently during washing. As the fabric settles, the contrast in shrinkage creates a subtle three-dimensional, puffed texture that enhances both the visual depth and the tactile richness of the shirt. Finished in natural indigo, the fabric is designed to fade and evolve beautifully over time, developing unique tones and patina with wear – no two shirts will age the same.
True to Studio D’Artisan’s workwear heritage, the 5728 features a classic work shirt silhouette with patch chest pockets, offering both functionality and timeless style. The shirt is finished with nut buttons, adding an organic, refined touch that complements the rugged character of the fabric. Every detail reflects the brand’s deep respect for traditional manufacturing and authentic materials.
Fit Notes: Despite being a Japanese shirt, we find the sizing of SDA shirts to be more Western than Japanese. If you usually wear a size M in American shirts, you'll find a suitable fit with this shirt in size M. However, as always, we recommend consulting our size chart for the perfect fit.
