Studio D'Artisan D1899 "Kyoto Super Black Dyed" 13.5oz Relaxed Tapered Jeans

About this product

The Studio D'Artisan D1899 Kyoto Super Black Dyed jeans represent the pinnacle of traditional Japanese textile artistry through historic Montsuki dyeing techniques. Built with premium 13.5oz selvedge denim, these jeans undergo an indigo under-dyeing process where indigo and black are repeatedly layered to achieve the 'ultimate black' that defines Montsuki Kyo-Kuro dyecraft. This sophisticated Super Black Montsuki dyeing creates not only a rich and robust black color, but embodies the ethos that governs much of Japan's aesthetic philosophy. The deep, powerful black represents centuries of insatiable pursuit for the blackest possible hue.

The relaxed tapered fit offers contemporary comfort through deeper inseam and wider hem area compared to standard relaxed tapered cuts, ensuring boot compatibility without compromising the overall slim silhouette. This thoughtful design accommodates many kinds of footwear while maintaining clean proportions. The one-wash treatment ensures immediate wearability while maintaining the fabric's distinctive character. Each pair celebrates Japan's textile heritage, transforming 13.5oz selvedge denim into wearable art that honors traditional Kyoto dyeing mastery.

Fit Notes: SDA Jeans usually run slightly small, but this is not the case with the Kyoto Super Black Jeans. We find them to be true to size, so we recommend selecting your usual size. As always, we suggest checking the size chart to ensure the best fit. The fabric is unsanforized, but since the jeans have been pre-washed, no shrinkage is expected.
