Ninshi Murasaki Inaka Genji is a full-length Edo-period novel inspired by Murasaki Shikibu’s The Tale of Genji. Published in 38 parts (totalling 152 volumes) from 1829, it played a key role in the development of Edo literature. In the Meiji era, artist Tsukioka Yoshitoshi reimagined a dramatic scene from one of the chapters in a dynamic triptych: Ashikaga Mitsuuji and his lover Tasogare take refuge in an old temple during a rainstorm, only to be attacked by Tasogare’s mother, Shinonome, who has transformed into a demon wearing a mask.
For this limited edition model, Sun Surf use a Fujiet Rayon, favoured for its soft drape & breathability. The art work used is then overprinted using an ink pigment, while all the other details of their classic Hawaiian shirts feature. An open collar, black pearl buttons (for this edition) & a single chest pocket are all present.
A Yoshitoshi woven label completes the look. Each limited edition model comes with a presentation box. 100% rayon Fujiet rayon Limited edition model Yoshitoshi Tsukioka Painting Open collar Black pearl buttons Single chest pocket Comes in presentation box Collector's edition Made in Japan
