Tanuki introduces one of the finest indigo short-sleeve tees we have ever seen. Crafted from the brand’s signature slub yarn, this heavy fabric – reminiscent of hand-spun yarn – offers rich texture and durability. Made with count 8 yarn, thicker than standard, it’s designed to hold its shape and withstand countless washes.
The natural indigo rope-dyeing process creates a striking spectrum of deep blue shades with lighter flecks that evoke ocean waves. Entirely made in Japan, from spinning to finishing, this piece reflects Tanuki’s dedication to craftsmanship and quality.
The 'Heavy Shinkai' fabric – named after the deep blue sea – promises remarkable fades over time, rewarding wearers with a shirt that grows more beautiful with age. Finished with sturdy blue side seams and reinforced ribbing at the collar, it meets the highest Japanese standards.
An embroidered Tanuki '二' (Ni) logo on the shoulder symbolizes the link between past and future. Rendered in red and blue, it pays tribute to Japan’s flag and the heritage of Japanese denim-making.
Fit Notes: Although Tanuki is a Japanese brand, we find that its tees fit more like Western sizes than traditional Japanese ones. If you normally wear a size M in American t-shirts, you’ll likely find that size M works well here. As always, we recommend checking our size chart to ensure the best fit.
