Buy NowThe Flat Head’s Indigo Block Check Western Shirt stands out as a unique take on traditional flannel, blending heritage craftsmanship with the brand’s deep expertise in indigo dyeing and fabric development. At first glance, the deep indigo tones give it a clean, classic look – but this is a shirt designed to evolve.
Woven using rope-dyed indigo yarns with a core-white structure, the fabric will fade and age much like denim. Over time, the rich indigo surface softens into lighter blues, revealing contrast, depth, and subtle puckering that enhances the underlying block check pattern. It’s a piece that rewards wear, developing character unique to each owner.
The 9.2oz custom fabric sits in a versatile mid-weight range, making it ideal for year-round use. Woven on vintage shuttle looms, it features a subtle herringbone structure and slight irregularities that add texture and authenticity. The exterior is lightly brushed, while the interior is double brushed for softness and warmth, trapping air to provide excellent insulation without excessive bulk.
Western-inspired detailing gives the shirt a distinctive edge. It features front and back yokes, snap-button closures, and beautifully finished lip pearl shell snap buttons that shift in tone depending on the light. The construction is equally impressive, with double-needle chainstitch seams and carefully matched patterns across panels, including the yoke and placket – details that reflect The Flat Head’s uncompromising standards.
Whether worn on its own or layered over a tee, this shirt offers a perfect balance between rugged and refined. Pair it with indigo denim and boots for a classic heritage look, or let it fade naturally over time as part of your everyday rotation.
Fit Notes: This model fits true to size for Flat Head and most Japanese brands. Compared to most global American brands, a size 42 fits similarly to a Large. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting…
