Buy NowArguably the finest Americana reproduction brand from Japan, the Real McCoy's painstakingly recreate and update original garments for the modern day offering the best from the past, replicated to perfection without compromise in Japan. In June 1919, the U. S. Army officially adopted blue denim work clothing as its standard fatigue uniform, replacing the earlier brown variants.
The original set included a pullover-style jumper, five-pocket trousers, and the iconic Denim Army Hat, more commonly known as the Daisy Mae. This blue denim pullover, designated spec number 6-125, was introduced in 1919 as part of the U. S. Army’s updated work uniform. Designed with a more relaxed fit than earlier versions, it addressed the practical challenges of wear and removal, striking a balance between durability and ease of movement, essential for labour-intensive tasks.
In use until 1940, this style became a mainstay not only in military service but also in civilian applications. Notably, it was widely issued to participants of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a New Deal job relief program that employed young men during the Great Depression.
Its rugged construction and utilitarian design made it a reliable uniform for both military and public works efforts. Simple in design & construction, this pullover features contrasting white stitching throughout as well as a button front using tinplate buttons. Two large utilitarian chest pockets have been paired with button cuff adjusters to alter fit.
