About this product

Is your size sold out? The Black Oilman Chinos are also available at these fine stores in limited quantities:

Withered Fig (USA)

Redcast Heritage (EU/Spain)

Son of a Texan (USA)

Texas, 1937. The derricks groan before sunrise, the air thick with dust and hope. Men in sweat-darkened khakis bend into their labor, boots sunk in red clay, shirts plastered to their backs. But their trousers, those stubborn, faithful, oil-speckled chinos, refuse to give up. They move with the men, not against them. They soften with wear, toughen with work, and tell every story they survive.

These are the Oilman Chinos.

History

Chinos have been around long enough to earn their legend. The name dates to the Spanish American War of 1898, when American soldiers nicknamed their cotton twill trousers chinos, after the Chinese mills they believed produced them. By the early 20th century, as the oil boom roared across the country, khaki chinos ended up, through fate or fashion, on nearly every field from Pennsylvania to Texas. They became standard issue for men who needed clothing that worked as hard as they did.

Fit

The Oilman Chinos share the same silhouette as our Daybreak Work Pants: a mid-high rise, flat front, and relaxed cut that stays comfortable without drifting into excess. Clean, neat, and unfussy, they are easy to move in and hard to live without.

Fabric

The fabric is a 7.7 oz, 100-percent cotton Japanese-milled twill built for year-round wear. The waistband and pocketing use a 6.5 oz Japanese salt and pepper chambray, the same used on our Cedar Atlas Work Shirt. Together they make a pair of chinos worthy of the men who inspired them: durable, dependable, and ready for whatever work or adventure you throw their way.
