Buy NowIn the process of crafting superior Japanese selvedge denim, excess yarn is often generated that cannot be utilized in the production of denim fabrics. This surplus yarn is typically discarded, as it cannot be repurposed for the specialized denim that the mills focus on. To tackle this issue, The Strike Gold has launched the Remnant Yarn Socks project that employs this surplus material, with the goal of reducing waste generated by the industry while producing something unique and appealing from the remnants of jean production.
These socks are an excellent choice for denim aficionados and environmentalists alike, as they provide high-quality natural fabrics instead of mass-produced synthetic materials. The yarn used to make these socks is significantly thicker than the typical yarn used in sock production and is made from top-quality cotton in a small factory in Okayama. Consequently, the finished product is a textured sock with a soft, thick texture due to the uneven yarns. The Remnant Yarn Socks come with tonal SG embroidery and a ribbed cuff.
The Strike Gold is undoubtedly one of the benchmark brands when we speak of Japanese denim. Established in Kojima, in Okayama Prefecture, the Hamamoto family has been focusing all its efforts for more than 10 years on producing denim, sweatshirts, shirts and belts of the very highest quality one can find today. Their denim fabrics, unique in the world for their texture, composition, incredible irregularity, stiffness, roughness and character, delight denim devotees around the planet.
