UES's Indigo Wabash shorts are the quintessential summer essential for fade and workwear enthusiasts. Crafted from discharge-dyed dot stripe Wabash fabric, sourced from Japan, these midweight shorts in versatile indigo are designed to fade beautifully with washing and wear. Made from the highest quality organic Zimbabwe cotton, harvested without chemicals, and woven using traditional shuttles, each pair boasts a depth of texture that enhances the original thread's richness.
Drawing from the time-tested fabric used in UES work caps, the brand employs a meticulous process of indigo-dyeing threads vertically and horizontally, culminating in the discharge of the dot pattern for this Wabash version. Esteemed for its neat appearance and durability, Wabash fabric was favored by both railroaders and working men alike.
The construction of these shorts is unparalleled. Internally reinforced with high-quality Japanese linen renowned for its moisture absorption and quick-drying properties, the crotch, waist, and pockets exude strength and texture. Complemented by buffalo horn buttons sourced from natural materials, these shorts are further fortified with triple stitching and reinforced fabrics, ensuring durability even after repeated washing without compromising their shape.
These shorts runs slightly small. Generally, we recommend choosing one size larger than your usual. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect fit. It is unsanforized but has been one-washed, so there will be no further shrinkage.
UES is a small Japanese label founded by Chuji Matsumoto in 1994. UES comes from the English word 'Waste', which means that Matsumoto-San wants you to make full use of each garment for as long as possible before discarding it. It is a small judgement of the concept of disposable wear that is so commonplace today in the world of fashion and from which Matsumoto-San disassociates himself completely.
