If touch is your top priority, the UES Ramayana stands as one of the softest T-shirts available on the market today. The shirt is crafted from 100% Suvin Gold cotton – renowned as one of the finest and most luxurious cotton varieties globally, cultivated in India.
Suvin Gold is a hybrid of the Egyptian cotton 'Sujata' and a Sea Island Cotton derivative from the West Indies known as 'St. Vincent'. With a fineness of 2.8 micros, it is the thinnest among super-long staple cottons – boasting an extremely long fiber length and exceptionally fine structure. Its cultivation is so challenging that seeds must be created annually, and only 1,500 to 2,000 units are produced per year worldwide, adding to its rarity and complexity.
Rich in natural wax, oils, and fats, Suvin Gold delivers a silky sheen, luxurious drape, and smooth feel that is closer to cashmere than to standard cotton. Even after repeated washings, the fabric maintains its softness – offering a consistently exceptional tactile experience over years of wear.
In constructing the Ramayana fabric, UES takes an unconventional approach. While high-grade materials like Suvin Gold are typically spun into fine yarns, UES deliberately spins the cotton into thick yarns on a special-order basis – producing a substantial jersey with the smoothness of Sea Island cotton and the structural body of a true heavyweight T-shirt. The result is a fabric that quietly redefines what a T-shirt can feel like.
This is the Henley version, featuring a basic henley neck design finished with specially shaped urea buttons for both durability and refined visual detail. The stitching is done with double-needle overlock construction to ensure the elasticity of the knit is not compromised – preserving the soft, supple character of the Ramayana fabric throughout extended wear.
Fit Notes: Ramayana tees run very small. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend sizing up two from your usual size – and one size up from your usual UES size…
