Inspired by the practical shirts worn across New England’s backwoods and workyards, the Walden is our take on a true cold weather staple. Its roots reach back to the rugged chamois shirts that have long defined outdoor life in Maine, and the diagonal slant stitching across the pocket is a quiet nod to that lineage. And whether you pronounce it sham-wah or shammy, the idea’s the same: warm, tough, dependable.
The fabric starts with organic cotton grown and spun in the American South, then woven into a dense 7.5oz twill at American Woolen. It’s then brushed for a soft, lofty feel and garment-dyed in Somersworth, New Hampshire, giving each shirt a head start on the break-in.
Soft in hand but rugged in spirit, the Walden is made to handle whatever you put it through, and to look even better for it.
