Early versions featured cuffed sleeves and pleated chest pockets, but later patterns shifted to larger, gusseted pockets and straight sleeves for easier movement.
By the third pattern, details like a collar button for attaching a hood and an internal gas flap were added to improve protection, marking it as 'Special.' Across all versions, the 13-star metal buttons and wider spacing at the top give it that distinct military look, especially when worn open with a broad lapel.
