The Buzz Rickson's Cotton Covert Work Shirt is a meticulous reproduction of the military work shirts produced during the 1940s and 1950s, when cotton covert was one of the defining fabrics in American workwear.

Cotton covert was developed to meet the demands of hard labor. By twisting colored and white threads together into a single yarn, then weaving them into a chambray-like cloth, manufacturers created a fabric with subtle shade variations across its surface. These tonal shifts served a practical purpose – helping to disguise stains and wear in the field – while giving the fabric a refined, textured appearance that sets it apart from standard workshirts.

Construction follows the standards of the original military-issued versions. The shirt features double chain-stitched seams throughout for extra strength, side seam gussets for improved mobility and durability at stress points, and urea cat-eye metal buttons – a period-correct detail faithful to the era. The spread collar and two chest pockets complete the classic work shirt silhouette.

The fit is regular and comfortable, designed for both function and versatility. It pairs effortlessly with jeans, chinos, or layered under a vest – a timeless piece that transitions naturally from workwear to everyday wear. The fabric has been one-washed to eliminate shrinkage.
