Here's one we've been pretty excited about for a while now! Our second collaboration with store favourites Jelado has landed and in what better form than a Western Shirt. Much coveted amongst enthusiasts, the Western shirt has an enduring legacy in popular culture. We were lucky enough to visit Jelado's showroom in Japan and see the like for like vintage Short Horn Denim Western Shirt reference that they used for their denim version of the Vaquero Shirt.
Over a couple of Suntory Highballs we managed to persuade the guys at Jelado to make us our own chambray version of the same shirt. This follows on from our collaboration from a few years ago - we've tweaked a few details here and there to our liking. For the fabric we've opted for Jelado's signature chambray fabric, woven solely for them in Japan which has been pre-washed.
Chambray is a plain weave fabric that uses coloured thread for the warp and white threads for the weft and this fabric in particular has been indigo dyed. Weighing in at 5 oz, the chambray is lightweight & breathable and will show unique signs of wear after use. The Jelado x Clutch Cafe Vaquero Western Shirt uses contrasting thread colours, as per the original in their archive, while two chest pockets have been paired with a snap button front using round pearl snap buttons.
An original woven Jelado Western Wear label completes the look. These shirts have been made expressly for Clutch Cafe by Jelado in Japan and only available online and in store in a limited quantity. 100% cotton Jelado x Clutch Cafe 5 oz chambray Inspired by original Shorthorn denim western shirt made by Levi's in the 50's Contrasting thread colours Two chest pockets Snap button front Round pearl snap buttons Original woven Jelado Western Wear label Pre-washed Made in Japan
