Buy NowKites flourished as a pastime during the Edo period. Authentic kites were made of sturdy Japanese paper with warrior paintings – called 'mushae.' Kites are also considered auspicious, flown to pray for children's growth, career advancement, and good health. This inlay-knitted shirt is made from aged cotton on a loopwheel machine.
The cotton is slowly matured in a temperature-controlled room for 30 to 50 days to restore its plump, fluffy texture. Spun and knitted on a vintage machine in Wakayama, the fabric produces just 48cm per hour – resulting in a soft, almost moist material that is thick yet minimally stretched.
