Japanese brand Soundman have created a name for themselves creating unique clothing with a classical twist. Their latest collection for AW26 is no different as the Atlas Jacket demonstrates. Inspired by the British Army SAS smock, developed for the Special Air Service (SAS), Britain's elite special forces unit, designed to provide practical protection and freedom of movement in demanding conditions.
Known for its functional pockets, adjustable waist and large pockets, the smock has become a much-loved piece of military clothing, valued by collectors for its distinctive design and enduring practicality. Soundman's version, dubbed the Atlas, is made in Japan from a water-repellent cotton/nylon ripstop.
An open-front design is complemented by D-ring and drawstring waist adjusters inspired by British Army Mountain Rescue clothing. Two lower pockets with button flap closure & two gusseted chest pockets with button flap closure are a nod to original design details. Further details include hand warmer pockets, a cotton lining and snap-button adjustable inner cuffs adding functional finishing touches.
