The S40’s is a faithful reproduction of the Levi’s S501XX, capturing the essence of WWII-era denim. After meticulous analysis of original wartime fabric, TCB developed a 14oz EMOT blended cotton, woven with hard-twisted yarns to replicate the rugged texture of the 1940s denim. The rope-dyed indigo ensures the color fades authentically over time, just like its vintage counterpart.
Woven on Toyoda shuttle looms, the denim features subtly uneven threads and a creamy tint, staying true to the distinctive look of WWII-era fabrics. The fit mirrors the original S501XX with a high rise, regular straight leg, and generous room in the thighs, knees, and calves, ensuring both comfort and a classic silhouette.
True to history, every detail has been faithfully recreated – from the signature wonky back pocket stitching and steel laurel wreath buttons to the unique belt loops that develop iconic fades over time.
Fit Notes: The S40’s model runs slightly small, so we recommend sizing up by one from your usual size. As always, check the size chart for the best fit. These jeans are unsanforized but one-washed, meaning no further shrinkage will occur.
